A
Super Mario Kart Sonnet
The cars are
racing down the dusty trail
apporaching
Peach's place, on slippery roads,
grey blocks
of stone, a train that might derail,
and a rainbow
bridge supporting heavy loads.
I am a green
dinosaur with breath
that stinks
like cheese. A toadstool passes to
my right;
the left is lava (steamy death).
I have been
passed by everyone; oh, poo!
Yet up ahead,
colors I do see,
a special
block containing treasures great
reveals a
star: invincibility!
I grit my
teeth (deep breath), accelerate.
While knocking
racers off in painful bursts,
I make my
way from dead-last place to first.
(About
this poem: This is "fun" sonnet inspired by the game Super Mario
Kart for the Super Nintendo!)
