Outloud Tour
(All
the pictures on this page have been stolen from www.weezer.com...
go there and thank Karl for all the pictures and info. he gathers for us
diehard Weezer fans!)
Here's
a little chance for me to ramble on about a concert I went to... so bear
with me. I went to the coolest concert on March 11, 2001 in Columbia,
Missouri. As part of the "Yahoo! Outloud" tour, Ozma, The Getup Kids,
and Weezer performed live at the Hearnes Center at the University of Missouri.
The concert was only 20 dollars... all general admission... and it was
AWESOME!!!!!!! I went with five of my friends from Ottumwa (in alphabetical
order- Dan, Jeff, Jessica, Spencer, Troy)... and we met another friend
there (Greg)... and he was with his girlfriend (Amanda) and roommate (Nate).
So, there were nine of us... and we all got separated in the exciting somewhat
mosh pit action with the other 4991 attendees!
Ozma
wasn't all that great LIVE... but their music was really good... kind of
like a cross between The Getup Kids and Weezer. I liked their song
Korobeiniki (also known as the "Tetris Theme Song") the best, and I recommend
anyone who likes Weezer or the Getup Kids to check out Ozma!
Then,
The Getup Kids played... and they were great live! I now have one
of their CD's, too, and it's awesome!
Then,
the long setup for Weezer began... and while some of the songs they played
during the intermission were good (there likely would have been a riot
if they would've cut off Bohemian Rhapsody), the crowd was starting to
get somewhat impatient.
But
anyway, after 40 minutes of setup, Weezer began playing! Woo hoo!
The band members filtered out on stage while playing one of their new songs
(Jessica says it's "Smile" (track 7 on the Green Album), but I can't remember),
and they followed that up with "My Name is Jonas." Heck, instead
of listing all the songs they played, have a look at the actual setlist
they used!
They've
changed all the song names, but if you're a true Weezer fan, you
should be able to figure it out. It really didn't seem like they
played that many songs, though... because it went so quickly.
I
didn't really mosh, since I'm sort of a pansy ;-D... I just jumped up and
down and screamed until I nearly lost my voice. I was, however, only
about 15 feet from the stage on the side, as was Jessica! Sweet!
Dan, Jeff, and Troy were all the way up front... and I honestly have no
clue where Spencer, Greg, Amanda, and Nate were. Jeff even managed
to sweat through 4 shirts... ewwwww.
Anyway,
it was great... and if you've never been to a concert, go to one!
They're fun... the music rules... you get free stuff... and you get to
spend a crapload of money on t-shirts! What could be better?
